I feel and think this is a fraud on my behalf now. It all started with the sale of a used Hunter tire changing machine, model TC3250, for the cost of $2850, which I have here at my shop. The buyer was making payment through PayPal. The buyer (Mr. Peter Flood) required that it go through PayPal, with a payment of $3,900.00 USD to be paid to me, including the shipping expense. The payment was broken down like this: tire changer TC3250 in the amount of $2850, MoneyGram fee $100, and $950 to the shipping agent. He (the buyer) also requested PayPal to have me do a transaction for him to complete this transaction, close the deal, and have the money wired to my account. I figured it was necessary to do so and that it sounded binding, so I went ahead with the transaction.
I went to Walmart to send the MoneyGram for the amount of $950.00 USD plus a MoneyGram fee of $57.50 USD to the shipping agent (Sane Mataitusi) as instructed. Then I came online again to give PayPal the reference number only, so the payment could be verified and credited to my account. PayPal emailed me back saying they would wire or credit my account in 12 hours or so. Instead, the following day when I came online to check my account, there were no funds at all. Yet I checked my email again and was asked by PayPal to do another transaction to close the deal.
I was upset and wrote back to PayPal saying that it was the buyer's responsibility to do his own shipping, insurance, and any other transaction fee, as the buyer had his own agency or whatever he wanted done on his behalf. PayPal insisted I go on with this final transaction, as they said funds of $5,150.00 USD would be credited to my account as follows: an additional $1,100 for the insurance fee to be paid to Mr. Frederick Arndt, plus $150.00 USD wired to me for the Western Union fee, which would be credited to my account once I made this last transaction. I figured that, being out $1007.50 USD in the first transaction, I should go on with it to close the deal.
Now the funds were increasing, and I did not want to be out the $1007.00 I had spent. I gave in and did this next transaction for the insurance fee for the item I sold, in the amount of $1,100.00 USD, to Mr. Frederick Arndt through Western Union, plus an additional fee of $111.00 USD that I paid to Western Union as instructed by PayPal. I gave PayPal the confirmation number only and waited for my account to be credited to close this transaction and complete the deal once and for all. Once again, they told me the same thing: give them another 24 hours before the funds would be credited to my account.
The following day I checked again. No funds whatsoever were ever credited to my account. Yet I got another email requiring me to do another series of transactions to close the deal. I wrote back saying I did not want to do any more transactions for them, as this was escalating into a much bigger amount now. All this time I was out all these expenses upfront and still not credited anything by PayPal. Now I am out of funds and time.
I asked PayPal to resolve this matter, telling them it was all supposed to be done on the buyer's behalf, to do his or her own shipping, insurance, or anything else they wanted, because they have their own shipping company, insurance provider, or anything they wanted done on their own. I asked PayPal to resolve this matter with the buyer or fully refund my money and close this case, as I am now out $2218.00 USD. PayPal will not respond or do anything to help me resolve this matter.
