My wife son and I recently (March 14th) went into a wal mart store in benton harbor MI. We purched a cd speedwriter RW from the electronics department. We paid for it with our bank debit card. The girl at the regester stapled the recipt to the flimsy bag. On the way out of the store i stoped at the regester to purchase a couple of rolls of paper shop towels that were on sale.
My son of 16 years tooh the cd writer package to the car. It was a very windy day and he didn't notice the recipt blowing off of the package.
When we ruturned home the box was not opend untill the next day. At that time i looked at the unit and it wasn't the same thing that was on the outside of the box. It was a (cd racer) not a (cd speedwriter) and it had no software to install it the free software that it was supposed to have with it is not there.
On the next day (March 16th) I took it back to wal mart. And asked to see the mannager.
The first manager that looked at it said yep it's not the right unit but without a recipt there is nothing that i can do. I asked can they look at the tape from the regester and give me a copy of the recipt. She asked do you know how long that will take? I returned with do you know how long i saved to purchase a cd burner that I cant use? In other words she was not about to help. So I asked to see another manager. This one looked at it andsaid about the same thing except she would have replaced it if they had another one. Which they didn't. They are evidently not going to get any more and cant even order any. But she did offer a gift cert. For the price. I saved my money for a cd burner I needed a cd burner. I do not want anything else. I wanted my money back.
When the main store manager finnaly decided to show up he was very rude and would not listen at all. And then he called me a lyer and told me that the store number on this package was not from his store and that i was trying to pull a scam. He would not even give me a cert at this time. I asked him to look at the regester and he said he would reserch it as long as I apoligized to his employees. (Which I did).
A week later i had to call the complant department to get them involved. Two days later i recieved a copy of my recipt. But didn't recieve an apoligy I have proven that i did in fact purchase this unit at that store.
After driving 150 miles and spending two weeks trying to resolve this matter i finaly talked to a representitive from the factory that packaged the unit and they will replace it with the right one. As long as i pay the shipping and handeling.
What i think is that wal mart owes me something for my troubles and the disrespect from calling me a lyer. What do you think i should do?
