Was called at 7:00pm by a number marked 'unknown' on my cell phone. The rep claimed to be from US Financial Resources. He said I was approved for a government loan and provided the following name and contact info: Ryan Fernendez, 1-800-558-0064 x115. He has a heavy Indian accent, despite his Latino last name. He first told me that I was due free grant money, with absolutely no money down, nothing to repay, and it was totally free. He then wanted me to pay $3.93 to have my approval packet sent to me. I told him I wanted to call him back before providing any payment info, but could not call him back because the number does not state any company name, and his extension does not work. So I looked up the number online and found his site. He called me back later, and I declined to pay for the 'shipping costs' that he wanted. He kept telling me to vet them out at the Better Business Bureau http://www.newmexicoandsouthwestcolorado. BBB.org/Home. Aspx, but when I did, they are not listed! He said that he was cancelling my application, but I feel that I just avoided a scam and possibly a huge money headache!
