Ental agency going back on word

All in all this company was very lenient on things to help us get into a house. We have the money for it and have no problem paying it but, there were many things that needed to be done prior to anyone (especially people with kids) moving in. They pushed any pushed for us to move in sooner than our original move date ensuring all things would be taken care of. So upon moving in we see and find many things still needing to be done. Both front and back yards were infested with numerous species of bugs and spiders the back smelled of rotten moldy apples from the tree back there. There is a ceiling fan that is hanging by wires (have tried putting back into bracket but isn't one there) it took a month to get our downstairs toilet put back on and out of the shower. I had to dig and scrape out cement or plaster from the garbage disposal in order for it to work the slightest bit. We are constantly having to plunger the sinks and toilets because draino or other pipe clear chemicals do not work. There were spiders nests on the inside of every corner inside the home. We received a visit from the owner after so many complaints. He came down all the way from Alaska to see what the company has done (or hasn't done) and had disgust looking at what he has been charged for fixing or maintaining and in his words "looks cheap" or just "thrown together." My husband him and and the realtor agreed to whatever work we have to do to get the home brought back to life we will be reimbursed for materials needed ie: bug sprays, rakes, shovels, new brackets for fans etc... Coming up on the first of another month time to pay rent again and the company is now denying any kind of agreement and will not accept our receipts or hours we have put into the home. We have received many compliments on how much nicer and better the house has been since we have moved in due to all of the repairs. What can we do? Continue paying almost a thousand dollars on a partially livable home??
