Complaint / Review
Airside wheel chair provider
Consumer Report

My wife and i were upper class passengers on virgin atlantic flight 658 from accra - ghana. We landed around 5.45 pm and was met by a wheel chair handler to whom i confirmed my surname since we had booked for that service in accra. As a stroke patient this service has always been requested since otherwise the walk from the aircraft through immigration is an impossible distance for me.

My wife assisted till we realised we had just been dumped mid-way between the aircraft and the baggage section. We later realised that the wheel chair attendant had not even bothered to pass on my details and request to any other official.

In spite of the frantic efforts of my wife, we were left without the required attention for nearly one and a half hours.
Apart from the stress which is to be avoided by a stroke patient, the limousine the airline had arranged had left thinking that i had not travelled after the driver had waited in vain at the land side meeting point.

Since i had to rush home to take my prescribed medication, i was forced to hire a black cab which cost me an additional £80.

I find this gross negligence of the agents of baa and by implication baa itself most reprehensible.

I am keeping my options opened on this matter, having regard to the fact that the information desk whose services i could have availed myself of at the terminal had been closed down reportedly as a cost-saving measure.
