Braum's returned check

I recently wrote a check during one of my numerous weekly visits to Braum's. Through an error on my part, the check was returned for insufficient funds. I received a collection call in regards to this check which I was happy to receive as I wasn't sure how to take care of the check. I received the worst customer service that I have ever experienced in my 44 years on this earth. When I questioned this, I was told they weren't customer service reps, but debt collectors instead. After a horrible exchange of words with the person who was supposedly the supervisor, I hung up practically in tears. She refused to tell me how I could take care of the check unless I told her where I worked and gave her my debit card #. Please understand that this is not a debt that has been looming for an excessive amount of time. I returned the call that I received, they weren't having to track me down and was more that willing to pay. She told me that she was going to note my account as refusal to pay because I wouldn't tell her where I worked. I'm not sure where to turn at this point. I tried to call the Braum's store on my lunch break for advise, but after the phone rang numerous times, a fax tone came on the line. I guess I'll try again later because I refuse to deal with that collection agency again. My fault for making a mistake, ABSOLUTELY! But no reason to be treated like an animal. I realize it's a third party company, but I won't be able to go to Braum's again without thinking of this experience unfortunately.
