Mega Millions (supposedly)
Consumer Report

Caller I.D. Stated: "Cell Phone JM", but the caller claims to be Mega Millions Sweepstakes. The caller himself was highly unprofessional, using quite a loud voice throughout the entire call. Asked what the winner's marital status was—married or divorced—to which I said "neither." (The winner was someone other than me, who is single; and the caller never bothered waiting a few seconds to talk to him. It's just as well since the recipient is hearing impaired.) The caller insisted that we get a GreenDot card—a.K.A. A Greedot card (my words)—with $100 on it, and that it be submitted to MegaMillions, or him, before the winner can accrue his winnings. He also asked "Since XXX XXX is a winner, does he want to be known publicly as a winner or does he want his identity kept private?" I answered that he'd prefer his identity to be kept private; and then the caller asked "Do you know what 'private' means?" Huh?! I told the caller I don't have time for such stupid questions, and then I hung up. He called back—not once, but twice, and then got the hint that his calls were no longer welcomed. The phone call DEFINITELY came from Jamaica: 876-897-6290, and it was NOT from the Mega Millions company. They were merely trying to portray themselves as Mega Millions, but were actually scam artists.
