On Saturday, August 25 my son filed a CPS report of sexual abuse by the estranged mother's half brother on his six year old son by email. About an hour later he recieved a call stating it had been assigned a priority 1 rating and that someone would be contacting him tomorrow. My son stressed in the report online and verbally to the worker that immediate action needed to be taken because the mother and maternal grandmother were threatening the child with putting him kids jail and a beating if he told anyone what was going on.
All day Sunday we frantically called the CPS numbers we had and only could get answering machines. I called the Bastrop office and was told if you wanted to speak to a live person call the following numbers. I called all three numbers and received voice mail on all three. We were not contacted back about the Priority I call until Monday about 5:00 P.M. I wonder what their definiton of PRIORITY is? This mother already has an open CPS case and 3 weeks ago her other son had a huge black eye yet CPS continues to do NOTHING!!!
I do not want my grandson to end up like the two children in San Antonio, Texas a couple of years ago were CPS claimed they were making weekly visits and the children had been dead and buried under the front porch while CPS was supposedly making visits!!!
Children in Texas can only be abused from 9:00 -5:00 if you expect CPS to investigate and it may not even happen then. The whole system needs to be revamped and staffed with people who CARE about CHILDREN not just a PAYCHECK!!
