We had a plumbing emergency in our rental home and wanted to take care of it quickly to avoid damage to the house. It was after hours and our regular plumbing service was closed. I fould a website for Mr. Rooter and it clearly stated "no overtime charges". This site linked me to the local Mr. Rooter service where I was able to get a plumber out to the house. There was no issue with the service, but for tracking down a leak and replacing a dripping hose that feeds the refrigerator, we were charged $400! On top of that, we were charged $60 because it was after hours.
We called the next day to question this amount and was told that that was a pretty standard fee, but they would not tell me how they came up with it. When asked why we were charged after hours fees, they explained that the website is out of Seattle and they have different policies. I know plumbers are expensive, but this is outrageous. We will not only never use Mr. Rooter's services again, we will share with everyone we know to avoid them. They said, "that was fine, that they didn't need our future business anyway". Makes me wonder whatever happened to customer service?
