WARNING to potential victims:
I responded to a Craigslist Ad to purchase Canon camera and accessories. After several emails back in forth with seller (using the name Caroline Wilson... [email protected]) we agreed upon a price and where ready to proceed with payment and shipping.
Shortly after aggreeing to purchase price, I received an email (and follow-up phone call from the "shipper" (DAS Auto Company... 406-564-4340) requesting a bank transfer for the $1600 payment. The email was sent with official looking "eBay Buyer Protection" logos, transaction #, item detail, etc.)
I became very suspecious with the request for a bank transfer instead of the more popular eBay type transactions, such as PayPal. When I questioned the "shipper" about using PayPal, he gave me some B.S. Answer about thier PayPal account being temporarily unavailable. Then started Googling the company (DAS Auto Company) for other potential scam alerts on them and came across a very similair scenario posted to this website about a "Charles Byron Hall".in this "Charles Byron Hall" complaint, the scammer used the exact same ebay tracking number that my scammer was attempting to use (65C4T128L3W89). Needless to say, I DID NOT send them any money. Please BEWARE of these scammers.
