A vehicle was listed on Craigslist.com. I responded to that vehicle. The buyer said that he was in the military and about to be shipped off to Afghanistan and needed to sell the vehicle as quickly as possible. He explained how the process would work and said that I would not send the money to him directly. The money would be sent to an ebay agent because the entire transaction was protected under Ebay Buyer Protection. I was to give him my name, telephone number, and email address and he would submit that information to Ebay. Ebay would contact me with the details. I did this. Ebay sent me a series of emails: one was transaction info, one was the invoice, and one was step by step instructions. The emails I received looked like they were legit and came directly from Ebay. I am an Ebay customer and have been for years and felt good about this deal. The emails stated everything that the Buyer Protection Program covered for both the buyer and seller and it seemed perfectly safe. The only thing that I did not question that I should have was the fact that they wanted the money sent thru Moneygram instead of Paypal which is what Ebay generally uses. I sent the money. I recieved confirmation of payment from Ebay motors. The next day the seller emailed me and said that Ebay contacted him and verified funds and he was shipping the vehicle. He gave me an estimated delivery date and asked him that I contact him as soon as I got the vehicle. I never heard from him again, nor did I ever receive the vehicle.
