I went in to the Milton St location in Dedham, MA today where I've had a 10x10 storage unit since Nov and was giving it up 16 days before my lease was to end. When I inquired about a possible rebate for a half month's rent which was already paid, the clerk wasn't sure how to answer that, but the clerk's district manager happened to be at that location sitting right behind him and told me I could not get any refund, and about a half dozen times throughout my inquiry (I might add) he repeated the same phrase..."IT'S JUST OUR POLICY"... And he wouldn't budge. Then I asked if I gave up my storage space right then if they were going to rent it out right away, and this manager gave me a resounding "YES"!!! I made it clear that it wasn't right or fair NOT to give me a rebate while they'd basically be making money off me AT MY EXPENSE... AND THAT REALLY STINKS!!! When this district manager told me that if I kept the unit till the lease ran out, then I'd have to keep a lock on the unit, but unfortunately I couldn't keep the unit because I moved and now live an hour away from the location and it would be a hassle, so I had to eat $75.00... AND THAT REALLY STINKS!!! I will now go out of my way to tell what happened to me to EVERYONE I know plus anyone I hear is looking to rent storage space and to advise them to stay away from Extra Space Storage because THEY ROB YOU BLIND!!!
