I was at McCarren Airport to pick up my son and somehow missed him when he got off the tram. After an hour and desperate to find him (and after leaving my cell phone at home) I called my mom from a payphone. The sticker on the phone stated $1.00 for 4 minutes. I figured in all reality the call would probably cost me $8-10.00. I made two calls.
Initially the company charged me $31 the two $23.37's but the $31.00 charge came off. The other two charges were made 3 days after the actual call so my bank closed my card for fraud.
Just so everyone knows, I was able to find a pricing guide for my state on their site. There is one for every state. For NV, the per rate call for non-operator assisted calls for initial 3 minutes is $4.47. Each additional minute is $1.49. It is different for every state. This is what I will use for what I SHOULD HAVE BEEN BILLED. Not sure about the actual transaction dates showing up 3 days later though.
I now tell everyone I know NOT to use the payphone. I am filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. Hope others do the same.
