My car was hail damaged and it is costing me about $5,000.00 to repair it. I have $500 deductable so I asked them for $4500 to help with the repairs. They refused and valued the car at about $4600 and offered $4088.25 and said they would not mess with the title if I would accept that. To avoid a hassel I said alright. Then they said they were salvaging the title unless I dropped the claim all together. They also sent me an internet tool for locating new cars. I typed in the description of my car and their tool offered me cars ranging from $4950 to $9500. All were a long way from my home and would cost at least several hundred to get brought here. My car is in mint condition and everything on it works fine. I am retired. I bought the car when I was working and could afford a good car. I do not expect to ever be able to afford a really nice car again. How do I handle this without letting them completely rip me off and keep my car without a salvage title?
