Same deal as everyone else. Received a call from (360) 460-1844 of which I answered and was responded by an automated "captain" of a cruise ship. He informed me that if I completed an automated survey I would be awarded 2 cruise passes to the Bahamas. Red Flag Alert. I pretty much knew it was a scam at that point, but what the hey just in case. Was asked a bunch of random questions: Education Level, Age, Homeowner, Do I prefer Debt or Credit, What kind of sewage do I use, Do I know anyone with Diabetes, How do I feel about my weight... Etc.

To "claim" your tickets you dial 1 to speak with an operator who asks your name, confirms your number, asks when the best time of day to contact you is, and your zip code. Then it hastily switches back to the automated captain who tells you to log on to surveycruise.com to claim your tickets. You log on with your telephone number and zipcode.

I figured no harm no foul, they don't have my email address or any credit card number. I immediately googled "Is Survey Cruise a Scam" and found an article published by the LA Times of how the whole thing works...

They'll apparently tell you that your requested dates aren't available but for a minimal fee you can be upgraded and get that time slot. That you have to put a few hundred down for your deposit. Or you have to put your CC on the file to reserve your slots.
