I received a call today (6/20) stating that charges have been filed against me and that a sherriff will be coming to my job tomorrow (6/21, my birthday btw!) to serve me a subpoena then arrest me. His name was "Justin John" and he called from the number 760-278-3027, he stated that he was lawyer calling on behalf of Cash Advance USA and they pressed charges because I was allegedly paid a loan and when the company tried to debt my account for repayment they were unable to do so. I was immediately in tears and scared because I had no idea what he was talking about and did not want to be arrested, especially not at my job! He was very rude and told me not to interrupt him and he would explain the charges and how much was owed ($598.19). After he explained the charges he told me to have a lawyer contact him and hung up. I tried calling the company directly because I never even applied for a loan with them, I read the scam disclaimer which is posted on the site and clicked on the link (stopfraud. Gov) I called the number and explained what happend and the representative immediately informed me that this was a common scam and not to give any information. She asked for my zip code and provided me with the number to my local FBI office and told me to call and file a report (which I did). It's scary knowing that a scam artist has your personal information (account #, employer, work #) He has been calling both my job and cell number non stop! If anyone knows how I can stop him from harrassing me please leave a rebuttal. Do not fall for this, please be aware that this is a scam.
