A young gentleman, representing himself as ESC LLC was selling magazines to help him better his education and career apportunities. After a lengthy discussion with him, I decided to subscibed to the Readers Digest, magazine #572 at the cost of $40.00 for 20 issues $10.00 process & handling, for a total of $50.00. I was informed that I was able to cancel without penalty or obligations within (3) three business days from the sales date, which was March 5. I was also told it would take up to 60 to start receiving the magazine. I choose not to cancel the subscription within the 3 business days.
It is now June 12 and I still have not received one Readers Digest magazine. When I tried to call the telephone number on the receipt, 208-640-6631, the numbers is an invalid / disconnected number. When I Googled and looked up ESC LLC at the address on the receipt, 121 SW Salmon St Suite #1100 Portland OR 97204, it pulled up Eksentrik Clearning Services LLC. With no contact telephone number. My check was cashed on 3/6, one day after I wrote the check for the subscription, then posted to my account on 3/7
My Lesson Learned: I understand now that this was a scam and I will be out the $50.00. I will never trust or purchase anything from a door-to-door saleman, no matter what they song and dance tale they tell me.
Buyers Beware!!!
