For over 50 years we have bought regular saltines from Nabisco. We've tried the low-fat, the no fat, the unsalted, and always returned to the original square saltines. Now, Hannaford's and Marketbasket, tell me that you are only stocking the round ones that do NOT have the same flavor or texture, and are packaged differently. If it ain't broke, why fix it? You can't just remove a popular product (think Coke) and replace it with another (think New Coke) and expect customers to say, "This is great!" First of all, it smacks of despotism, you'll like it, or else; secondly, it makes the customer look for an alternative product (think Keebler's Zesta Crackers.) Please do not change anything about the original Premium Saltine. Just find ways to make it more environmentally sustainable and organic. For example, recycled paper to make the box, or trendy sea salts for the tops. A gourmet saltine would be clever. But DON'T fiddle with the original. It's a classic and deserves to be in the Smithsonian!
In addition, I just called your 1-800 # and talked to a very nice lady. She assured me my thoughts would be passed along to the Nabisco people. I suggested the person who conceived of the idea for this mess should be canned, but I perhaps mis-spoke. How about tarred and feathered?!
