This may seem trivial to you and not worth even listening to but to me it is important and is highway robbery.
I went to my bank on Tuesday and cashed my pension check so I could buy groceries. The check was from a company who handles Georgia Pacific pension checks not a personal check and only $120.00. My bank is Dollar Bank but won't be soon.
On Wednesday I get a online notice of a problem from of my bank. I find out I have been charged a $36.00 overdraft fee for cashing my check. They somehow attach that check to my checking or account and because of a policy I am only entitled to $100.00 of that check and because I only had $7.00 in my account but not overdrawn I was penalized and charged an overdraft fee.
I am 68, on a fixed income and $36.00 means a lot to me monthly. The stupidity of this boggles my mind. I could have cashed that check at any other bank with identification and gotten my money, I could have even cashed it at Giant Eagle for that matter. I wwent through another incident with them because they cashed a check dated on the 3rd of the month when my auto deposit goes in on the 29th of the previous month and was charged $72.00 in overdraft fees because a date on a check means nothing anymore and they can cash it when presented and penalize the customer. Why have a place for a date on checks? The two banks who cashed it were at fault but they say don't pre-date a check. Well I wasn't seeing this person again for awhile, she forgot it was post dated and deposited it at her bank which accepted a check not valid until the date on it and then my bank accepted a non valid check and charged me $72.00.
Is there no common sense anymore? What happened to Banks, and why not go after the bigger fish than take from us who depend on every dime every month. I am trying to get resolution but they keep quoting policy. I even asked if anyone, not having an account could walk in and cash a company issued check and they said NO! What??? That is unheard of and so unfair.

In other words, maybe more well chosen, they attached that check to my account when I didn't use my account, just cashed my damn pension check for groceries... How can they attach the two when I just cashed a company check to their $100.00 policy when I didn't use my account? Only cashed a check like any other person who gets a company check and maybe doesn't even have a bank account anywhere.???
