I am the secretary for a small company in California. We had a similar problem with this "Public Yellow Pages". As all buisnesses we get calls to update our address all the time. I am very sceptical about updating anything now. On 4/5 we recieved a call from "the paralegal" department for Public Yellow pages, stating we owe them $599.00, if not paid they will proceed with legal matters. The middle eastern gentleman who called played back a "recorded" message, that sounded nothing like me, and sounded sketchy "pieced together". We then advised the gentleman that they were pulling a scam, as I do not make "ANY" authorizations for the company, that is not my position to do so. We hung up on him and he proceeded to herrass us, by calling us uncontrollably, finally we looked up the company and came across all these complaints, as we printed and faxed to the company showing them "we know it's a scam" Since then we have recieved no more phone calls. We have though recieved a INVOICE via Public mail, the first and only invoice we have recieved, several months down the road. We then went ahead and faxed all the complaints, and a pampflet from the federal trade commission. And we are currently contacted the federal trade commission to make them aware of this "Scam company known as Public Yellow Pages."
