Rayne Delearship Corporation, Rayne Water Conditioning, Rayne Water Systems A shady operation guilty of fraudulent repairs and mislabeled goods

Kind Sir or Mam,

To me, the most bothersome policy of Rayne of San Jose's approach to handling water softener service was the blatant fraud. Customers were led to believe new resin was used in the rebed procedure.instead, Rayne utilized a 'bait and switch' tactic.

ALL rebed resin before 2012 was so heavily damaged from industrial use that it was capable of eroding and building up a pile of brownish orange debris in water heaters, toilet tanks, and, though they do not see it, in customer's food. The debris is decaying plastic, mostly polyacrylic. This ion exchange resin dandruff is eroded as water is used. Users of the 'exchange tank service' see far more of it.

In a related story, commercial water softeners were often shorted bags of ion exchange resin when installed by this company.in some cases, such as the installation at the San Jose Crime Lab, the softener was shorted so much of its new resin that a supplement consisting of the afore described damaged resin was reportedly used. This was told to me by the installer of that unit.

I have not been able to do any testing to confirm the story. I did send an email to the DA explaining how to capture debris to positively identify if their softener was indeed filled with used resin. I doubt I will ever hear back from them.

Unfortunately, a testing procedure I described to them may be wrong. A more positive test would be to look inside. The installer told me that the Crime Lab's softener was given "maybe three bags " and the rest was the old stuff.

As for rebedding softeners, through out my 2.75 year employ this company sold hundreds of cubic feet of decomposing resin to customers who were misled into believing it was new. Surely they sold thousands of cubic feet in the decades prior.

Rayne of San Jose has territory spanning from Hollister to Gilroy to South San Francisco (maybe Oakland) and to Sacramento inclusive of all places in between. This makes for a massive amount of Californians being put at risk for receiving fraudulent service by this unethical corporation in addition to the thousands of victims who bought and are consuming Rayne's plastic particles.

A rather long email was sent to the corporate office describing some intricate details of the mismanagement and fraud undertaken at this branch office under direction of the manager, Steve Hamblet. As far as I know there has been no attempt made to right the wrongs or to punish the guilty.

Rayne Dealership Corporation services most of California, Arizona, Texas, and many other states. If they condone it here, why would they not condone defrauding customers elsewhere?

There is more - like the manager of that branch editing the time sheets of workers in order to reduce overtime pay so HE could get his bonus. Getting back to consumer fraud, ask for any Rayne branch to send you pictures of their softeners. Pay close attention to the RF series. For the RF series, Rayne of San Jose will offer a picture of a softener with an analog timer. According to the service manual RF softeners have a digital timer head. The RR series is analog.

Also, just to mention, the Linx drinking water system they are pushing is a leak hazard. A massive improvement on RO drinking water sytems was doing away with all of the separate pieces strung together with tubing. Retailers such as Home Depot, Sears, etc. Generally offer RO systems with a simplified, single manifold that holds all of the
filters.

Rayne's new innovation, the ever-hyped Linx system, is a deionizer.in their haste to bring it to market, they failed to design it for consumer convenience or longevity. Nearly all internal water pathways are made via plastic tubing with quick-connect fittings.

In saving some pennies, the manufacturer has the tubing cut such that in most cases it barely makes the connection. Since the quick-connect fittings use o-rings, stress from short tubing contributes massively to premature failure of the seal. Persons renting the units can get the company to repair the damages, but people who make the mistake of buying them are SOL.

The following was taken from the raynewater.com website:
"
Corporate Pledge
* Obey the laws that govern us
* Fulfill our obligations to our customers and vendors
* Be a good corporate citizen in the communities in which we operate
* Be honest with our employees, customers, and regulators
* Expect all of our people to act ethically
* Hire good people who care about customer service so that we continue our industry leading status
* Provide excellent service to our customers, guarantee and support our products and services, and stand behind what we sell
* Do what we can to ensure our clients, employees, neighbors and suppliers enjoy every association with us
"

The misdeeds described in this report as well as in the email to corporate showed beyond a shadow of a doubt that Rayne's San Jose office routinely broke nearly every vow in the Corporate Pledge under the direction of Steve Hamblet.

The original email was received by the corporate owner on Dec 13. An internal investigation was allegedly started on Dec 15. My last offer to allow them to handle things internally went unanswered on February 17, more than two months later. Some may be led to believe that the phrase "in cahoots" applies.

I GAVE this company nearly a year of pay if tallied from the unpaid overtime. That was a gift that came at my suffering. I seek justice for the customers, not monies that should have been paid since I was working. The extra time I worked was to give something to the customers for their money and to help me sleep at night.

That said, I must note that I completely understand that class action means squat to the individual victims. So, if you are a lawyer wishing to file a class action suit, I will happily be a star witness and will assist in all aspects of case preparation for 1/3 the blood-sucking lawyer fee.

Sincerely,
Rippedoff Whistleblower

P.S. F*CK YOU STEVE HAMBLET! You are a turd and NOTHING can polish a turd!
