I purchased SafeWater softener from SafeWater Softeners, LLC in late 2005. I installed the unit and it seemed to work for a while. After the unit had been installed for about a year or so, I noticed that the unit was not working as advertised (scale was forming on our dishwasher and water pressure in my home was decreasing).in late I contacted this company regarding the water issue to inquire as to whether or not the unit would require maintenance. I was advised that the unit was maintenance free and that I should check other elements of the water system in the house.By Summer of water pressure in the house dropped to nearly zero for hot water and I had to hire a technician to address the issue. He found that our oil-fired hot water heater was choked with lime scale and that it could not heat water well and that water could not easily pass through the heater. The scale in the heater was something that the SafeWater softener was specifically supposed to remove. I had to replace the hot water heater (a $600 job) and I also had to install a conventional water softening system (a $2000 job) to address the issues with our water (moderate hardness).in order to have the new softener installed, I removed the SafeWater softener and I also contacted SafeWater Softeners, LLC regarding the problem. I explained what happened and requested that I receive a refund for the unit I purchased from them.in August, I was told to return the unit to SafeWater Softeners, LLC in Arkansas and that I would receive a refund. I returned the unit as directed (and at my own expense of $25) and contacted the company regarding the refund. Again, I was told that I would receive a refund, but still no refund was actually made. Even after pursuing the issue with the BBB and receiving additional promises that the refund would be sent, I never received the refund. SafeWater Softeners took my money and they got their "softener" back at my expense.
