I made the foolish mistake in January of ordering a trial set of Chaz Dean Wen haircare products in response to a television infommercial. The sales and distribution are managed by Guthy-Renker. I gave my credit card number to order the products, but did NOT authorize automatic shipments, nor further charges.
In February, another charge of $34 showed up on my credit card, and another package arrived, of which I refused shipment. I immediately called Wen, and was told that charge would be refunded to my credit card upon receipt of the returned merchandise. I was also assured that there would be no further automatic shipments, and no further charges to my card.
I just checked my account to see if the charge has been refunded, as it has been a month since I refused the shipment, more than adequate time for the package to be returned and the credit processed. I learned that not only has no refund been issued, and additional $30 has been charge to my card.
After reading numerous similar complaints, I will be contacting my credit card company right away to contest the charges, and investigating how to go about filing a complaint with the California Attorney General and Better Business Bureau. I can't believe that they have not been inundated with such complaints, and find myself wondering how this company keeps getting away with such blatant consumer fraud and abuse.
