This is my e-mail to Britensure following my experience of their 'free trial'
To whom it may concern,
After reading an article in a consumer magazine I was keen to take advantage of a free trial of your tooth whitening product. I ordered this on 01/02 but did not receive the samples until early March (your despatch note cites the shipping date as 23/02). Aware of the need to cancel the subscription within 30 days, I telephoned your customer service number (08081890157) a few days after receiving the product, to advise that I had only just received it, and to request a sufficient amount of time to complete the month's trial. I also advised him at this point that I would NOT be continuing the trial beyond the initial month. Your representative assured me that this was no problem, said he had cancelled the subscription, and said I could return the product by 23rd April. He gave me the return code 987521399 to send back with the packaging once I had used the product. When I came to use the product I found that BOTH tubes were faulty, and would not twist or click to release the product onto the applicator brush. I still have both tubes unused in their original condition. After two weeks of trying the customer service number, I finally got through this morning. Your representative advised that I return the product but I stated that I was very unhappy to do this as I had already paid £7.00 for postage of a faulty product. He was not at all helpful and eventually grudgingly agreed to 'apply to the finance department for a refund' of the postage. This was bad enough but upon reading my bank statement this evening I noticed that your company has debited my bank account with £99.95 on the sixth of March. You did NOT have my permission to take the payment. This is absolutely unacceptable and an unauthorised payment of that size will have a huge effect on my personal finances. The product itself is FAULTY. I must insist that you refund both the £99.95 and the original postage as I can return the product untouched and I had advised you within the 30 days that I would NOT be continuing with the trial.
I thank you for your urgent response to this matter, or I will be forced to take the issue further through the appropriate (legal) channels.
Yours faithfully
Ms N Debenham Bell
