I gave Chad O'Laughlin and Fred Hadd $4500 on December 12 for roof work. The total insurance estimate was $12200. The check cleared my bank Dec. 28th but they had still done nothing by the middle of January. Finally after several calls, they had the roof done the end of January. There was considerably more work to be done but they kept telling me daily that there were going to do it this week or the first of next week but never came to do it. They were waiting for the rest of my money from the Ins.Co.
I got tired of waiting for them to get to the rest of the work and I hired someone else to do it. I got a call from a sub contractor saying that Chad had not paid him and he was going to put a lien on the house. Then the roofer that did the work came by and told me he had not been paid. Chad was furious that I had hired someone else to do the work and demanded another $2000 that he said I owed him on the roof. I asked him why a sub contractor was threatening to put a lien on my house and I was not giving them another dollar until that was paid. He was so angry that he threatened to put an $8000 lien on the house. I hung up on him and have had no further contact with him.
Then the roofer that did the work came by and told me he had not been paid, and last week I got a letter from another sub contractor wanting $2200 for matreials he had not yet been paid for and was going to put a lien on the house for that as well. It seems that I paid $4500 for nothing because he never paid anyone for their work or materials.
When I started dealing with Chad and Fred, their office was in Laverne, Tn. They told me that they were moving to a new office here in Murfreesboro. It turns out that they are doing business our of one office under the name of 4 businesses... Arista Exteriors, Inc.US Exteriors, The Great American Roofing Company and Kencor Company. He does not have business licenses for any of the businesses, no contractors license and he is collecting insurance checks and not doing the work. I know of one other person that paid him $4000 and has not had any work done and they will not refund the money or do the work.
I highly recommend that you check on licenses before you do business with anyone because Chad and Fred are very smooth and will represent themselves as one of these companies and get your money and you will not hear from them again. They do not have a contractors license or a business license. There are reports here and on RipOff Reports on the internet dating back two years from people in Oklahoma with the same complaints.
Arista Exteriors, Inc. Is a corporation in Tennessee but mail sent to them from the Secretary of State has been returned undeliverable and the designated agent for the Corp. Is one Michael Hettrick, Jr. No one has ever heard of him.
