PC Cleaner Pro
Consumer Report

I was having various problems and/or delays in using certain applications. I got a pop up when inquiring about a fix while searching the help section from HP.
It sounded like PC Cleaner could solve the problems. They ran the scan and said I had over 3,000 items that required fixing. I bought the program and then received an authentication key so that the program could be downloaded.
Their e-mail along with the key said to call the 800 number to begin the process. They said there were many problems to be dealt with beside the errors that their scan produced and they could help by looking directly at my register.
I allowed them to use a logmein program to access my computer. The tech probably based in India went on and on about my problems and said that there was a lot more than just fixing errors in the software. They said my computer data was at risk and talked about security problems that could only be fixed by Microsoft. They went on and on about not using Best Buy Geek squad that would cost several hundred dolllars or by using techs from Microsofl that charge $3 a minute. I said I wanted just to clear up the errors that could fix and I would deal with other problems with my own tech advisors. They still insisted that Microsoft could fix the basic problems that were causing some of the errors they and asked that I speak to Microsoft directly I agreed and they said they would forward all the info they had and the Microsoft would explain what they would do before having to pay more money (estimated to be around $100) for a year of support. When connected to the supposed Microsoft site, the rep asked for my name, e-mail address and the type of credit card I would be using.

I gave him that info and asked what he was going to do and what the charge would be. Again, a sales pitch about buying this additional service. I asked if I was speaking to Microsoft (the company) and he said no but that he was a certified Microsoft tech. Actually, I believe he was at the same location at the first person who pitched for more money. I was totally frustrated and told him so until at last a "manager" got on the line with the same garbage and I hung up. I cancelled my "subscription" and am trying to get money back. These guys are terrible. I am also alerting my credit card company to not allowing the charge to go through. Go after these guys. I can't believe they have millions of satisfied customers as they claim.
