My husband received a call from a vacation marketing place. He told him about a 6 night 5 day stay at a hotel in Florida for $149. He said he would send him the information about the hotel to look over for 30 days and if he wasn't interested to send it back and he would not be charged.
He asked if we had a checking or savings account & where. He gave him this information but NO account numbers. The information came on a Saturday, and he called to cancel it on that following Monday via an automated system saying our subscription was cancelled & no charges would be made to our account. Then 2 days later a $149 withdrawl was made from our account via an "ACH" withdrawal.
I immediately went to this website & saw others who had identical conversations and withdrawal (s). Then I went to my credit union and the money was refunded to me the next day. I called a phone number that the saleman gave my husband which was different from their "confirmation" letter which all funneled back to the one I had. Even though he cancelled it on Monday, when I called it on Thursday the recording said it was just then being cancelled and that my money would be refunded. I highly doubt that was a true statement.
