I had applied for a job as a sales associate at a car dealership, i was called in by this man, Steve Kubel claiming to be from an outside agency under the assumed name "Sales Associates". He has stated in our meeting, he was not an amployee of the dealership, but an outsider that was contracted to recruit and train potential sales people. He had conducted his interveiw and had approved of me and had advanced me to second interveiw with the sales manager. He has than stated that if the sales manager had hired me,
I would be required to undergo "Road to the sale" training course, and would have to pay $599.00 cash or money order, no personal checks. So i had paid him a non-refundable $599.00 cash. He already knew i had prior sales experiance. I did not feel i needed this basic sales training, nor did i benefit from the training, I really feel like i was riped-off. Others i spoke with feel the same way. I wasn't given an option to opt-out of the training, the way it was presented to me, I felt obligated to pay the fee and take the training course or not take the job, I felt stuck between a rock and a hard place. People i'v spoke with told me they don't seem to think this practice is legal, although they are not lawyers.
