I advertised my iphone for sale on Gum Tree for $600. I had recieved a message and the person said he was interested in buying my phone for $800 after i had already been offered $600 i agreed. I wanted him to pay me into my everyday bank account. He refused and wanted to use paypal. I then agreed and recieved an email shortly thereafter from 'paypal'. Stating paypal have received $800 and that they would wait for confirmation on the shipment number adn that they would transfer the money into my everyday account once the shipment number had been received. I made arrangements through pack and send in perth to send my iphone 4 to Malaysia and the costs were $90. I then contacted him again letting him know that it was going to cost $90 in shipment and could he please fordward through any shipment cost. He agreed. Shortly thereafter i received an email stating another $90 had been credited to my paypal account and would be accessible once i had posted my item. I then traveled 50km to the nearest international shipping and payed $90 cash. I then returned home and phoned international shipping to find out how soon i could access the shipping number, told him what TAMIL the purchaser had told me about requesting shipment details and they informed to ring paypal to double check and verify if the money was actually was in my paypal account. I then discovered if it was not there and this had been a false email. To my shock i was absolutely (Inappropriate Content Removed) OFF!!! As i had gone through a lot of effort and time and money spent today. I advise all people considering to do this through paypal, NOT TO. To always wait for your funds to be in your account before you take the effort to send it away etc. Fortunately international shipping had not sent my phone yet which relieved me and can pick my phone up tomorrow. THIS PERSON TAMIL SELVAM GOVAL also poses as a number of people but is quiet because he sends the same message in different names. I just wished i had picked up on that earlier!!! Lesson learn't!
