Purchased newly constructed home from Pinnacle Construction Group. Our realtor's inspector gave the home a COMPLETE stamp of approval-NOTHING WRONG.
Moved in to discover the roof leaked, windows leaked, FLOOR leaked, walls leaked. Plumbing fixtures not caulked in, in fact NOTHING was caulked in. The exterior door entrance was sloped IN toward the house. AC leaked as well.
When I say leak, i dont mean drip drip drip. I mean a leak that is like a water facet full force! Anytime it rained, our house would end up soggy and moldy! Walls wet, floor covered with inch or so of water!!!
After many attempts and threats, the builder sent a handy man out to "fix" the problems. Yes they caulked the fixures. Then they dumped a load of concrete in front of our door and smoothed it out to "fix" the leak. Of course this made it worse. That was all they did.
We continued to harrass them about the problems. Our warranty company refused to repair the problems as well.
A side bar-our next door neighbor had the exact same problems with his home as well except WORSE! More on his in a second.
We contacted a few attorneys who told us there was nothing we could do since the company had filed for bankruptcy.
We decided we had better fix these problems ourselves before the house fell apart.
Our neighbor began his repairs as well. He decided to do a little renovation at the same time. His architectual enginner began tearing walls down etc...
You would not believe what he found! The home was not even attach to the foundation!!! The wood used to build the home is not treated! The supports for the flooring and stairs were not to code.in fact his entire home was NOT built to code!
With every wall they took down, something else was wrong with the house!
How on earth did this get by the city, county and state inspectors??? Canthey be held liable as well as the builder?
We decided NOT to do anything but the minimum-fix the roof leaks, floor leaks etc.
Cost us $15,000 to repair. We did not dare tear walls down!
We are afraid to find what our neighbor did.
Our neighbor spent tens of thousands of dollars to make repairs alone. His roof even had to be replaced because it did not have the supports. He basically rebuilt the home!
So far we have not had anymore problems with out home since we have made the repairs. However if someone buys our home and decides to remodel, who knows what they will find.
One other thing, it turns out that our realtor and her inspector are good friends with the builder. How is that for a fricking rip-0ff!!!
