We read about some of the activities that were happening at Elmer Auction so we went down and did a little research of our own. Now it's true that the action industry is a bit unpredictable, but, Elmer Auctions takes it to a whole new level. The owners of the auction may not be that bad, but, the people they have working for them as Auctioneers are very questionable in their practices. One of them Stands at the most; He works up front and he usually sell his own items through Lot 40. He will spend a lot of time and effort talking up his own items, which leaves little time for the selling of items from other consigners. That in itself isn't all that bad, but, we put him to the test. One Friday a set of coins came up for sale under Lot 40, these coins where commonly known as Copper Nickels, this Auctioneer spent a good ten minutes talking these coins up, there excellent grading, thier rarity, especially an 1859. We bought the coins and went home. We brought the same coin back to the auction for sale, in the same packaging that we bought them in. This Auction waited until the very end of the Auction to put them, called them trash, and then his partner stated bidding and won the coin for a pennies on the dollar. Two weeks later those same coins were up for auction again under lot 40 and were among the first to go over the block. Once again he taked them up as the best thing since sliced bread. The owners know that he does this and they allow it there by ripping off the people who go their expecting at least a level playing field.
