North Shore Agency, Columbus, Ohio
I have received two "Delinquent Account" notices for a magazine (Handguns), that I have not subscribed to for over two years, from the North Shore Agency, a debt collection service based in Columbus, Ohio. Their phone numbers and e-mail address are set up to "pay" your debt only, no person can be contacted. I have found that their tactic is to obtain names of magazines that people have formerly or currently subscribe to or have had trial subscriptions, then send out false "Delinquent Account" notices. The amounts involved are usually small (mine is $13) to make people just pay it so it will "go away".
"Handguns" magazine staff have been very attentive to my complaint and immediately contacted me for additional information relating to the North Shore Agency. They provided me with the fact that I owe them nothing and my subscription expired in January. I have noted many complaints on the internet regarding the North Shore Agency, including those filed with the Better Business Bureau and several state Attorney General offices.
