I fell victim to this credit card scam also. I was contacted on my cell phone and was told that they were calling about a recent credit card application. They offered me a 2000 dollar credit line with an increase to 6000 after 6 months for a one time fee of 249.00 dollars.
I'm always a bit skeptical about things like, but unfortunately I was contacted during my lunch hour while I was in my car taking a short nap. At first everything sounded legit, but as I began to come to my senses things just didn't seem right about what they were offering. Besides, if I applied for this card, why would they need all this information AGAIN?
Thanks to Rip-Off-Report, my suspicions were true and I was able to do something about it before they withdrew the money from my checking account. Unfortunately I had to close my checking account and file security alerts with all the credit reporting agencies, but they DID NOT get my money.
I am in the process of filing fraud reports with the State of New York, The US Government and any other investigative agencies neccessary in an attempt to stop any future fraud attempts.
