My wife thought she was getting free trial of cream etc from 2 x companies and signed up just for P&P charges (£2.95 & £2.97). After looking on website noticed that this is all a scam and she would be charged for considerable lot more that P&P. Today contacted the bank and only way to sort this out was to cancel the debit card. The bank provided 2 x ref numbers that we must contact the scam company and pass onto them to advise to cancel all their attempts to take any funds out. Today called 0808 178 7320 (the UK end of this scam) and gave them the numbers and also IAW their T&Cs cancelled both accounts forthwith, again mentioned the Ref Nos and that the matter was now with the Bank's Fraud Team and if they try and take funds out the bank will call in the Police. Basically I threatened them with fraud action and that they must cancel both accounts now as it is within their 12 day period. The lady was not nice but said we would receive 2 x emails to cancel the accounts within 24hrs and no money would leave the bank account. We now wait with baited breath... Please if scammed in this take the action I have done.
