I went to look at an apartment that was advertised on their website as being 2 bedroom for 550.00 utilites, when I arrived to the apartment, it was a 1 bedroom with a sunporch (not big enough to put a bed in), and the kitchen and bathroom needed some MAJOR updating.
Regardless, the apartment had some cute touches, and the building was clean.
The lady showing me the apartment said she had some 2 bedrooms availible, how much was I willing to spend? I said appx 650.00 depending on what this included, she said ok... And that she had to double check on the price of the one we just looked at - (advertised on the web as 550.00).
Isnt it amazing that when she called me back the price of the advertised apt. Was no longer 550.00 but 640.00 and there was a 10.00 charge for each person living there besides me (my boyriend).. This comes out to... Tada... 650.00 (exactly what I told her I was willing to spend on a two bedroom.
Today I went on the website (because I thought maybe I was mistaken)... And now the apartment is advertised at 620.00. Seems like a major scam to me!!!
The area that I am talking about has MANY college students, so I guess they can ask any price that they want for these apartments, because they are thinking that they can get it passed the college kids... Because Mommy and Daddy are probably paying... I am not in college and my parents do not pay my rent... But I think that everyone should be aware of this.
If you see an apartment advertised on their website for a great price, PRINT that page out, and take it with you when you look at the apartment... Chances are, it is probably 100.00 more than the adverstised price...
This is a real shame, because we would have definetly rented it for 550.00, and if I had rented it, it would be a lot nicer than it is now!!! Their lose!!!
