Consumer Report

On Oct. 19, I recevied my cell phone bill for the previous month, and noticed a third party charge of $18.00 from the mobile gener. I contacted them, and spoke to their rep. I asked them to explain the charges, (6x$3.00). I was told that when they texted me, I entered the code and in so doing I activated the 77070 skill2thrilltrivia. I explained to the rep (Dario) that mistakenly thought that it was my provider (Rogers) texting me with info, as they some times do never realizing that it was something I had to pay for. I told him it did not explain the remaining 5 charges that I never answered. I told him that I never authorized there use in calling my number when I did not GIVE them my number. Dario proceded to tell me that they retreived my number when I entered it on-line. I explained to him that I only give out my number to secured sites, so how was that they got it? He wouldn't say, he only repeated what he'd said earlier. I told him that I wouldn't be paying that that bill, because I felt that I was being scammed. I never signed anything nor did I give written or vebal agreement for them to call my number. I was told that I would have to pay, at which time I asked to speak to a supervisor. I was told there were none and if I had any dispute to go on-line at ([email protected]) which I did with quite some trouble. I then called Rogers and explained the situation, only to be told that I would have to dispute it on-line. Since when has Rogers become a collection agency? It's disappointing how consumers are being treated thes days. I think the next thing to do is to get in touch with the Better Business Bureu and lodge a complaint.
