The company is a moving company... Started out as Moving Direct & is now called Red Gold Logistics. Changed names but both are deceitful. My belongings were picked up 5/9 in Cloverdale VA., to be delivered to Jacksonville, FL. The driver told me the truck would arrive the following day... Even though the contract said 7 to 45 days. Every time I called to inquire I was given a date when the truck would be here. Some boxes, mattresses, love seat & chair did arrive the latter part of May or 1st. Part of June. I had to hire a uhaul and meet them on the side of the road because they stated they could not get to the apartment. (Other 18 wheelers managed to make it.) Only after they started unloading were we told it was only partial and if we did not accept there would be a $600.00 charge. Thank God my son could drive a truck. The things that arrived were damaged and broken. No bed frames, just mattresses. This went on for 6 months... I would email and call and get the same run around... It's on the way. I would get calls from people saying they were truck drivers stating they were on their way. Then I got a message saying a delivery would be made after 7/4. I guess I should have ask what year, because this never happened. Approximately 2 weeks ago I received an email stating they could deliver... I said because we were closing on a house to delay for a week. On 11/5 we received a call they were here... But surprise, it wasn't Red Gold. The driver told me my belongings had been stored in a storage facility in Vinton, VA., less than 10 miles from where it was picked up. I contacted the lady at the storage and she told me they paid 1 month storage and when she tried to collect she was told to auction it off. She decided to try to find us. Probably would have been better if she had because of all the damaged, broken and missing items. My contract was for 2 thousand plus, but after all was said & done it is closer to 5 thousand. When they picked up the furniture and had it loaded was when I was told the difference in price. I told them to just unpack it, which they refused to do. I put over 4 thousand on my VISA card, plus the $635.00 deposit when I signed the contract. They wanted cash or a check on a local bank... Even though the contract states clearly 1/3 down when I signed the contract, 1/3 when they picked it up and the remainder when it was delivered. I felt I had no choice in the matter because we had made arrangements for electric, gas & phone to be turned off. I have the VISA charge in dispute at this time but don't know how long they will allow it to last. BBB said they never got a response from Red Gold... DOT said they couldn't help... I am in the process of contacting consumer affairs. Any assistance you can provide would be appreciated.
