Company, Heat Surge HT, has full page ad about a free-standing heat unit/appliance.included in ad is a two day "double coupon" promotion that can be applied towards a purchase of unit. Coupon can only be applied by calling 1-800-504-8089 and give promotion code TH100.
Listed on coupon, it "Expires 2 days from publication date, After Coupon Expires: $477.00 plus S&H."
Coupon, (I hope to include a picture of coupon with my complaint)
is for "$227.00 off On any ONE (1) Heat Surge HT Hybrid-Thermic Miracle Heater delivered to your door with FREE Shipping & Handling." Continuing, fine print..."TO USE THIS COUPON: Call the National Appliance Center Hotline at 1-800-504-8089 and give the operator the 2-Day Double Coupon Code shown below the barcode which also entitles you to FREE Shipping & Handling."
Now the ad lists "This extraordinary $227.00 Double Coupon Deal is authorized for today's readers to use to get the Heat Surge HT for just $299.00 (plus applicable sales tax in OH & FL). To use this coupon, you must call the National Appliance Center at 1-800-504-8089. For those who beat the deadline, this Double Coupon also entitles you to FREE Shipping & Handling."
Okay sounds like a deal: now do the math...
I called them to find out the S&H, according to code TH100,
its $49.00
If the unit is regularly $477.00 plus S&H of $49.00 = $526.00
Using coupon: $227.00 off () with free S&H of $49.00 = $276.00
$526.00 - $276.00 = $250.00
But their ad says I can buy it for $299.00 humm... That doesn't add up... Math according to coupon says I can buy it for $250.00.
So I called, the sales associate stated with the coupon, I can buy Surge Heater for $299.00 Then I asked her to do the math as the coupon states... Unit is $477.00 $49.00 = $526.00 then apply coupon: $526.00 - $227.00 ("with FREE Shipping & Handling") - $49.00 = $250.00 not $299.00. She tried to say the $227.00 is with S&H, then I clearly went over with her how the ad and coupon read.

She then stated I was right and my math was right, and she asked if I wanted to speak with a supervisor. I said "yes, your company needs to honor their ad." Supervisor was angry, short, and refused to honor ad bottom line. He said, "He would be happy to sell me the Surge Heater for $299.00." I said I didn't feel like doing business with them. So here I am, writing my complaint.
