Warranties & dealerships - 2007 Chrysler Sebring

I bought a 2007 Chrysler Sebring a couple of years ago at Palm Automotive in Punta Gorda, FL. When I bought the car, the salewoman said if I bought the car, she would throw in free tires for the life of the car, which was a special they had going. Normally, my car would not have gotten the free tires because my tires were too big, but she said she would give it to me.in addition, she threw in the coupon book for free oil changes for the life of the car.

I had owned a Chrysler Sebring and a Dodge Ram prior to this purchase, so the free tires were not the only reason I purchased the car, but that was what sold me.

I did not live in the immediate area of the dealership, but I drove to this particular location because a person I worked with had just bought a truck from them and he thought they were good enough to recommend. The salesperson was aware that I did not live in that town.

When my car came due for an oil change, I called the dealership and explained that I had the coupon book for the oil changes and free tires for life (the salesperson had made me aware that I had to have my maintenance done regularly in order to stay eligible for the tires). I explained that I did not live in their area and asked if I could take it to the dealer in my area and I was told it was no problem, as long as it was a Chrysler dealer.

Eventually I moved to Brandon, Florida. There is only one dealership in the area and it is a real pain to have my car serviced there, but I knew I had to do it to get my tires. This dealership is really inconvenient and it takes them a very long time to service my car.in addition, they assign service personnel to cars so even if you are next, if your person is busy, you end up having to wait until they are through, even if another service person is doing nothing.

Long story short, my car needs new tires and I am told that in order to get the tires, I needed to have it serviced every time in Punta Gorda. I called Punta Gorda and they confirmed this. The brochures for the program do say this, but, that is why I checked on it to begin with.in addition to that, you need to get a 30,000 mile overhaul from Chrysler in order to be eligible, which costs about 3 times as much as it does at a non-Chrysler repair shop.

I am really tired of being ripped off by car dealerships. Adding garbage warranties to my car does not help improve my faith in your company. I think it is about time that car manufacturing companies were honest with their customers, not trying to hose them into purchases, but allowing consumers to buy with confidence every time! At this point, I will not by from Chrysler again.
