I telephoned British Gold Refinery on 8 August and was offered 72.2p per gram for over 2 kilos of hallmarked sterling silver. They received it on 11 August and after several reminders offered me 30p per gram instead. Then demanded a return fee of £125 and upped that to £150 when I called in Trading Standards. It took me five weeks, including a written final notice of intended legal proceedings, before they eventually settled at £1852 and returned some other items which they had grossly undervalued - including 90 grams of 50% silver as worthless. Not once in those five weeks did they ever honour any one of their promises or undertakings.
