Today I went to the local Super Target store on Power Rd in Gilbert, AZ. Everyone is greeted by an employee at the door, that is OK. Locating the product, a Shark Vac/Steamer, I went to the check out lane. It is mid afternoon and there are no lines, maybe 3 other customers at the open lines. We are all within 20 feet of the door greeter at this point. I but the vac and start to walk out with my husband. The nice greeter wants to see my receipt. This was the only product I had in my cart that I just purchased. Not liking the fact that I feel like I am being accused of stealing at this point, I had the one item receipt to this young man. He takes his time reviewing the receipt. No one else was checked going out of the store at that time, except us. Walking out of the store my husband and I decided to vote with our money on how we were just treated. We turned around and returned the just purchased product back to the store, passing the nice greeter. I told the Customer Service Rep the reason for my return. The Customer Service Rep's reply was not much concern on the fact they just lost a sale and a local customer. I will not return to this Target nor any other. I did buy my Shark Vac/Steamer at another store where I was treated with respect. Yes, I do realise that these days, store policies may be a bit tighter than in the past, but I will not be made to feel like I just tried to steal something. I will shop where I am treated with respect and valued as a customer. I may be doing all my future purchased on the Internet.
