My ATT DSL internet service began 10/12 with receiving my first Motorola modem. I immediately began having problems and began my miserable experience with ATT customer service.
During the next few months I powered my computer and modem up and down hundreds of times. I lost my internet connection hundreds of times. I never knew why I was having such a terrible experience with my internet. I have been "on-line" for 7 years and have never had problems such as I was experiencing. Several times, during my many calls to ATT, I mentioned the extreme heat of the Motorola modem. No small digital device should be hot to the touch. I was told that was normal!
Finally, someone decided my hundreds of problems and my utterly miserable internet service was caused by a faulty modem. I received a replacement modem on 04/25. It was a Motorola and had a tag that stated it was "refurbished". I connected my "new" modem and began the same miserable cycle all over. This "refurbished" modem died completely and I was sent a Westell modem on 05/27.
The Westell modem is NOT hot, it is cool as a small digital device should operate. This is 06/07 and I have had 11 days of trouble free internet service. This has not happened since 10/12 when I first began my ATT service. My service is supposed to cost $14.95/month, I have always been billed more than that besides being charged $75 for a modem model that ATT had to know was inherently bad.
I don't know how ATT could compensate me for 8 months of misery.
