Faulty Brand New Dishwasher and No Assistance from Home Depot for Return Policy! - Customer Service

On September 8, my 27 year old daughter & son-in-law bought a new GE dishwasher from Home Depot. It could not be delivered to them by Home Depot until September 16th. (I feel an 8-day delivery date is too long but this is not the issue!) After receiving the new dishwasher, my daughter filled it to use for the FIRST time and it would not work. She contacted Home Depot the same day she received it and was told she would have repairman/technician come out to look at it. The Technician did not arrive until 4 days later. The Tech told her it was a pump and hose assembly. He offered new parts to be ordered. This was not acceptable since it was "Brand New". After my daughter spoke to Home Depot about this she was given an 800 number to GE to tell them about. GE initially told them Home Depot should not have told her that. Then the FUN begins... After numerous phone calls to many different numbers and being placed on hold for up to 20 - 30 minutes at a time... All this while working full-time and watching her 2 year old son, I believe 9 days later, Home Depot & GE has decided to order her a new dishwasher. The order is being processed as we write, possibly, and won't be delivered for another 2 weeks.

I find business like this totally unacceptable!!! Home Depot was the "Point of Purchase". The Manager of that store should have dealt with this matter and it should not have been the customers responsibility to do so. I feel someone is slacking and will talk to them directly about this. You see, I am the Mother and Grandmother involved and call it "Mamma Bear Syndrome" or whatever... But Home Depot personel are not the ones listening to the tears of this full-time working mother of a 2 year child getting very frustrated making 10 - 20 or 30 phones calls to get this taken care of when the Manager of Home Depot should have only got ONE phone call and taken care of it from there...

Come CEO's at Home Depot... What kind of business are you running??? You want me to talk to your local managers and teach them some manners on how they should treat people. If this review stops one person from purchasing from your business then my point will be made.
