US Courier & Logistics — at Houston, and probably everywhere else — works as a contractor for Amazon.com, delivering packages to customers. Here is the scam:
— They announce on Craiglist that they are looking for contractors with a vehicle to deliver packages for Amazon.com.
— On Thursdays they offer an orientation for new potential workers. They claim that a good deliverer can make 130 deliveries a day for a gross pay of $185 a day.
— They give you a superficial training with a scanner and send you out with an experienced deliverer. On Friday and Saturday they let you go solo. Most people quit on Saturday, and don't show up the next Monday. Needless to say that we don't get paid, unless we make a big fuss, which most people don't.
— This company is giving a bad name to Amazon.com, and operates fraudulently. The scam consists in exploiting labor, making people work without pay.
