The Art Institute of Pittsburgh (Online Division)
Consumer Report

The level of disorganization and incompetence exhibited by this institution is simple inexcusable, in addition to the fact that the courses they offer are deeply lacking for college courses and outlandishly overpriced.

Textbooks are rarely, if ever, referenced in-class. The online lectures that the school provides offer little, if any info a person could not look up for free and is written at an elementary school level. Most, if not all of these are not, by any stretch of the imagination, college level courses.

I have been billed erroneously multiple times. When I call about strange, unexpected bills, I am often passed from person to person, all of which usually have conflicting information to provide me. Often, in the end, I am told that these bills were a “mistake” and “not to worry about them”. I fail to believe had I paid them I would have received a refund.

I have been mistakenly enrolled in classes I have already completed multiple times. I was forced to write a letter to the Dean upon the first occurrence of this to get out of a class entitled “Intermediate Illustration”, which I had previously completed. This process was stressful, seemed unnecessary and wasted a terrible amount of my time. I continue to be mistakenly enrolled in this class often, forcing me to contact my Academic Advisor to correct the error each time. Had I not pointed out this error each time, the school would have fraudulently put me in even more debt to a sum of over $1,000.

I have been told the wrong graduation date. The “Campus Common” the school implements as an online gateway to classes, is highly prone to displaying misinformation. My “estimated graduation date” was more than a year off, causing me great turmoil when the date began to approach.

I have been told the wrong start date for classes. The “Campus Common” recently displayed an incorrect start date for two classes for me. An entire week of classes drifted by before any notable action was taken to contact me. I was then “withdrawn” from my classes, despite making every effort to make up for lost time and inform my “instructors” of the situation. This resulted in myself having to re-apply to the entire school. This has caused much confusion amongst the already disorderly school staff, and despite assurances I “would pick up right where I left off”, it appears I am again signed up for the “Intermediate Illustration” class I have already completed yet again. Even after once again rectifying this reoccurring error, my “financial advisor” failed to contact me regarding critical loan paperwork until the day before class was to begin. This caused me to miss out on the first several days of class, and continues to cause damage to my grade. This is just the latest in the never-ending case of mix-ups for me.

To sum up, it is my sincere finding that Ai Online criminally misrepresents its quality of education, its cost, its alumni employment rates and its reputation. I feel the way this school operates is disgraceful and an affront to education itself.

Yet, the legal red tape this school utilities and new recent laws regarding class action law suits prevent students from lifting a finger to free themselves from the financial slavery this bogus school sells them into.
