Called me this morning saying that many Windows users are experiencing "online infections" that are not protected by my anti-viral software that I already have. He told me that in the past 2 months that 900,00 computers have crashed from these online infections. He took me into my computer files where there were numerous errors and warnings and led me to believe that my computer was at risk of crashing and completely shutting down like what had happened to all of the other Windows users. Convinced me to allow them remote access to my computer so that they could remove the online infections. During this time I researched this more on my Mac computer and found out about how all of this was a scam. I immediately called them back and asked that they terminate their connection to my computer, which they did but now I am concerned about what they have had access to in the meantime and the potential damage that has been done to my computer. Fortunately I did not allow them to make a credit card charge for $139, but now I will have to take my computer some where to be double checked and serviced to be on the safe side. He had the nerve to call me back and ask why I had changed my mind. I told him about the research that I had done and finding out that this was a scam. He still tried to convince me that they had a legitimate service and it was other competitive companies saying that they were a scam.
