Purchased matching pair of items in one Ebay transaction. One had some cosmetic damage on arrival. Seller claimed UPS damaged it, so UPS picked it up for inspection. Thereafter, unknown to me, the seller had UPS ship the item back to him but claimed that he didn't know anything about this and that UPS delivered it to the wrong address. Even though UPS has record of his request, it is protected by UPS confidentiality, so the seller denied all of this.in the end, the seller had my money, UPS damage claim money and one of the items back for resale.
This is a clever scam and could be used by any seller on Ebay: send a damaged item, blame UPS, have them pick it up then have them return it to a different address and deny having it or even having asked for its return. UPS customer confidentiality rules prevent them from disclosing the truth.
Ebay will not ackowledge or verify that this happened and thus cannot prevent or stop this type of scam.
