Happily, I can thank Table for Six (TF6) for my boyfriend, helping me develop clarity on what I really wanted in a dude and realizing it might take a lot of frogs. I reluctantly joined after another bad CL date. I mean really bad! I felt like I was aged out of match.com. I was 44 and the dudes on match were interested in women who were under 35 and interested in producing offspring.
My friend's cousin and her BF's sister had both been involved in TF6. They both had fun and met lots of guys. So I tolerate the "kid" who called me after my internet query. I go into the office the next saturday, cautious and a bit distrustful.
I meet Mandy who would become my future matchmaker. She was cute and sweet and nothing like me. I was still reluctant. But knowing that if I didn't sign up I would be right back on CL cruising ads or on the street meeting some Joe Schmoe, I signed up. They have a system of tiers. I took the one to one (more pricy, also more service). I couldn't bear the thought of sitting at a table with 5 other strangers after a busy workday. Mandy and I worked together on what kind of guy I was looking for. At first, I had low standards, "smart, funny, has a job" Quickly, we both realized that wouldn't work. Mandy helped me to narrow down what would work. We talked weekly. About what went well on my dates and what didn't go so well. We didn't always see eye to eye, but Mandy respected my choices and stayed professional always.
I really recommend TF6 or some service like it if you are over 40 and want to meet a number one. It is not the place for serial daters or cheapskates. It is a place where you can meet people who have their s*t together and want to be in a relationship. It was work, but the pay off has been great
