I went to Pueblo metals on April 18 to turn in my pickup truck for scrap at the advertised rate of $220 per ton. We loaded 2 and one half tons of scrap metal in back of the truck for more money. The load was weighed on entrance to the yard (7,800 pounds) and in the yard the yard worker tells us the truck is too long so we only get $150 per ton. I asked what about the steel loaded in back, he says they will take care of that in the office.in the office they pay us $150 per ton for all. I asked how am I supposed to know about length limits? The girl points to a tiny sign that is barely legible. So I asked about the extra steel loaded in back? She brings out the manager. They say there is nothing they can do. I start to complain further and they tell me to get out or they will call
The cops. There should be a sign visible when entering yard warning of length limits, there is not. There should also be a warning that yard workers can adjust the advertised price on certain conditions, there is not. To wait until you have dropped your load and go to get paid, then tell you too bad for you, that is very dishonest. They got me for $70 per ton @ 7,800 pounds =approx $260, take it and shut up or we call the cops. These are bait and switch tactics at their worst.
