We contacted Tier Haven Rescue to adopt a German Shepherd posted on their website.
They brought him out to our home to meet our current dog for a "meet and greet" session.
While at my home, I asked the rescue lady about a large bump on his stomac. I was told it was a normal part of the neutering, which they had just done. I am not a doctor, I have no clue what I'm looking at, and I took her at her word.
At his first Vet visit 6 weeks later, the doctor told me that bump on his stomac was actually an external hernia, that was bulging out of his body and would require surgery to fix him. He also had to be de-wormed, even though the Rescue claimed he had already been de-wormed and kept on regular heartworm and anti-worm pills.
When confronted about the "ommission" their only response was "pay us the $200 adoption fee or we'll come take the dog back."
They present themselves as dog lovers just trying to find good homes. I would not adopt from them again. If you are considering them... Caveat emptor.
After all this I did send them the $200 because that was what we agreed to and that's the honest thing to do, and god only knows given his condition when he left how long he would make it if they took him back.
